COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
COVID-19 Vaccinations for Faculty, Staff, and Students
With the objective of prioritizing the health and safety of our faculty, staff, and students, while ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence and a transformative student experience, the University requires for the fall 2022 term that all faculty, staff, and students accessing any University campus or facility who do not claim an exemption described below to be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Other and more restrictive requirements may apply for Seaver College international programs, graduate school study abroad programs, and international travelers.
All students accessing any University campus or facility who do not claim an exemption must upload proof of vaccination by August 15, 2022. Faculty and staff accessing any University campus or facility who do not claim an exemption may be asked to provide proof of vaccination in certain circumstances. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, contact tracing related to positive COVID-19 cases.
For planning purposes, all faculty, staff, and students must also notify the University of their current vaccination status by completing the COVID-19 Vaccination Notification Form. If vaccination status changes after an individual completes the form, the person should complete the form again with an updated response.
The policy will remain in effect until it is updated or revised.
COVID-19 Vaccination Exemptions
Community members claiming a good-faith medical, religious, or philosophical exemption
must complete the Vaccination Exemption Form. Instructions for the vaccination exemption
process for both students and employees can be found on the COVID-19 Vaccine Information website. Those community members with a vaccination exemption may be subject to additional
infection control measures at the University, such as mask wearing indoors; required,
regular COVID-19 testing; and a solitary, ten-day quarantine in the case of a close
contact with a positive case, etc. Additionally, pursuant to LACDPH mandates, participation
in certain events or programs may be limited to vaccinated individuals.
Policy Compliance
We are confident that our community members will comply with these important health
and safety provisions. In the unlikely event of non-compliance, these matters will
be directed to the Office of Community Standards for students, the Office of the Provost
for faculty, or Human Resources for staff members. Consequences will be the same as
for other failures to comply with University policy.
