48th Annual Pepperdine Associates Dinner

More than 550 Pepperdine friends and supporters gathered to celebrate the 48th annual Pepperdine Associates dinner and welcome keynote speaker Condoleezza Rice—the 66th secretary of state of the United States, who has played a critical role in safeguarding the interests and integrity of the nation both at home and abroad. The event’s theme, “Shining the Light of Truth,” recognized the significance of seeking truth as a cornerstone of American ideals and aspirations and Pepperdine’s guiding principles that are embedded in the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the face of the most pressing national and global issues of our time, the pursuit of and commitment to a singular value—truth—prevails over all. Indeed, the founding principles of our country that have driven democracy, innovation, and civil discourse for more than two centuries continue to resonate among the populace and shine a light on how far we’ve come and how far we have yet to go. While many throughout history have assumed roles that have required the fortitude, faith, and courage needed to defend truth in pursuit of freedom and justice for all, some have answered the call in extraordinary ways that have changed the course of history.

Just as our country fixes its gaze on the North Star of its founding values, Pepperdine’s journey ahead, charted by the divine guidance of our faith and our commitment to the bedrock ideals of our nation, will illuminate the path to greater understanding that has the power to promote transformative progress at the University and beyond.
