Pepperdine University Continues to Climb U.S. News & World Report Rankings of Best Colleges

Pepperdine University continues to climb the rankings as one of America's "Best National Universities," as listed in the U.S. News & World Report 2016 Best Colleges list released today.

In the newly-released numbers, Pepperdine is ranked number 52 out of 280 national higher learning institutions, two spots above its 2015 ranking of number 54. According to the publication, "The National Universities category consists of the 280 institutions—173 public, 100 private, and seven for-profit—that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors, as well as master's and doctoral degrees; some emphasize research. Data on up to 16 indicators of academic quality are gathered from each institution and tabulated. Schools are ranked by their total weighted score."

In the "Best Value" category, which ranks California-based best value national universities, Pepperdine ranks number 25, the second spot amongst California-based universities included in the category. The methodology focuses on a school's academic quality and the 2014-2015 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.

Additionally, Pepperdine was ranked for the first time as one of the nation's "Best Colleges for Veterans," coming in at number 42. The category rates institutions that are certified for the GI Bill® and choose to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Pepperdine was also recognized for the first time on the "High School Counselor Rankings" list, coming in at number 35, establishing Pepperdine as the third most highly-regarded institution of higher learning on the West Coast by high school college counselors. This ranking is based solely on the guidance counselors' ratings from approximately 2,200 schools in 49 states, as well as the District of Columbia.
