Pepperdine University to Host Second Annual TEDxPepperdineU

Pepperdine University will host the second annual TEDx event on Thursday, January 30, featuring speakers with a variety of personal and professional backgrounds for an afternoon of innovative and inspiring conversations. TEDxPepperdineU, a program of local, self-organized events providing the community with a TED-like experience, will take place from 1 to 5 PM at Smothers Theatre on the Malibu campus.

The student-run event, organized under the leadership of Ryan Groves (MA ’15), director of strategic employer partnerships at the Seaver College Career Center, will focus on the theme “Surf-to-Summit.”

“TEDxPepperdineU celebrates those who strive for the pinnacles of achievement and ride the waves of change,” shares Groves. “The Pepperdine community is tremendously excited to curate a roster of phenomenal speakers, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from each of their triumphs, hardships, and lived experiences.”

Speakers include Cary Singleton, cofounder of the Singleton Foundation focused on financial literacy education; Sue Bryce, photographer; Marissa Muller, global product marketing lead at Tesla; Eric Wilson, poet and executive director of spiritual programming at Pepperdine; Jeff Walling (MS ’16), director of the youth leadership initiative at Pepperdine; rock band Loud Forest; Julia Norgaard, assistant professor of economics at Seaver College; Kaci Courtwright and Payton Silket, Seaver College students; and Bree Irvin (’13), Seaver College alumna.
