Associated Women for Pepperdine

Welcome

Powell, Edna

We begin this academic year with continued celebration of Pepperdine's 75th Anniversary. This AWP message is dedicated to our scholarship recipients. We are grateful and honored that the Associated Women for Pepperdine (AWP)
has played a vital role in the storied journey and history of
this University.

The journey would not be possible without the vision of our founder, Helen Young, and all the dedicated women and men who have served with her in support of Christian education through the AWP scholarship. The mission of AWP was well defined and still guides us today to encourage and strengthen students from Churches of Christ in furthering the development of spiritual values.

Each year we reflect on the success of the past while building momentum for the future--greeting each new class of students eagerly anticipating the new phase of their life. There have been many innovations that have changed the college experience over the years; especially technology. But what has not changed is the opportunity to excel in all areas of college life and forge lifelong relationships.

We are here to encourage students to keep a healthy balance of spiritual, academic, and social activities. May you remember the golden rule of scripture as you meet and greet new roommates and friends. We also want students to stay healthy and engage their professors as they care deeply about student learning and their overall well-being.

Pepperdine provides a wonderful opportunity for students to study together, worship together, and travel together here in the US and abroad. The blessing and pursuit of learning in an enriching, educational, Christian environment is available to you. Our fervent prayer is that you will "keep Christ in college and throughout your life."

You bring light to Pepperdine. So as you go about your days may the seed of guidance from Micah 6:8 lead you: "What does the Lord require of you? To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."

Blessings,
Edna Powell
