Seaver Alumnus Ben Ferguson Establishes Endowed Scholarship
By Nate Ethell ('08)
Seaver College is pleased to announce the newly named Ferguson Family Goldman Sachs Endowed Scholarship. Established by Goldman Sachs Gives at the recommendation of Seaver alumnus Benjamin W. Ferguson ('98), the new scholarship will support students with financial need pursuing bachelor's degrees in economics or business administration.
"I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to study at Pepperdine and benefited dramatically from the University's inspirational faculty," said Ben. "My wife and I felt strongly that creating a scholarship to make Pepperdine financially accessible to students with genuine need would be a tangible way to give back and recreate the opportunity I had for future generations."
Ben Ferguson is managing director and partner at Goldman Sachs, which he joined as a financial analyst in Tokyo in 1998 shortly after graduating with bachelor's degrees in finance and economics. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2012, where he is currently co-head of Asia Pacific Ex-Japan (APEJ) Equities Distribution, among other responsibilities. Ben also serves on the Asia Pacific board of Room to Read, an awarding-winning nonprofit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world.
