Michael E. Feltner
Dean, Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences
Michael Feltner was named dean of Seaver College in 2015. His tenure as dean was preceded by one year as interim dean and three years as the associate dean of the school. He also led the college's Natural Science Division from 2006 to 2011. A professor of sports medicine, he has taught at Pepperdine since 1988 in the areas of biomechanics, kinesiology, and human anatomy. Feltner taught at the University of Texas before joining the Seaver College faculty.
Feltner is a passionate advocate for the liberal arts, Christian higher education, and student success. In his time as dean, he has created the Seaver College Student Success Center, launched the Navigate student success platform, increased placement rates at the Career Center through the Success After Seaver program, and initiated several programs to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. Feltner is committed to leading and advancing Seaver College toward its goal of becoming a premier global Christian university.
Feltner graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a BS in biological science education and received both his master's degree and PhD in human performance and biomechanics from Indiana University.
