Preparation for Student Employment

You can earn extra income and enjoy meaningful work experiences at Pepperdine University through job opportunities on and off campus. To begin your journey, see the guidelines and tips below to help you prepare for and then find employment as a student employee of the university.

 


 

Before You Arrive at Pepperdine: How to Prepare

To apply for positions on or off campus at Pepperdine, you will need the following:

Important Note:

  • Acceptable Documents, noted above, MUST be original and unexpired
  • Photocopies are not accepted
  • Share your professional work experience
  • Industry-specific format

Available on-campus and off-campus part time job are posted on Pepperdine's job posting platform called Handshake.  All Pepperdine students are encouraged to use Handshake to search for available job opportunities.  Please read below for further instructions on how to access Handshake, create an account, upload your resume, and search for jobs.

Access to Handshake/ How to Search for Jobs:

  1. Login to your Wavenet homepage
  2. Click on Student Services, which is located on the top-left of your Wavenet homepage
  3. Click on Handshake
  4. You will be directed to the Handshake website
  5. Click on Jobs
  6. For Job Type, select On-campus Student Employment to see all current postings for on-campus student employment.
  7. For Off-campus student employment, seek out part-time jobs with the tags 'off-campus student employment'
  8. Click Search
  9. Look through each job posting to see if you are interested.  Follow the instructions for each job posting and apply as instructed.  Note that there may be different document requirements for each position.

Once You Are at Pepperdine

During New Student Orientation (NSO), the Student Employment Office will hold various workshops where you can learn more about on and off campus job opportunities. Our office works with students who have Federal Work-Study awards, Pepperdine Work Program awards, and students who would like to work even if they are not awarded work-study funds.

As a newly admitted student to Seaver College, you will gain access to our online job database, Handshake, during the week of NSO. For graduate students, please contact the Student Employment Office for a current list of job postings and offered services. You may begin applying for jobs on-campus and off-campus as early as NSO week.
