What does being one of Pepperdine's 40 under 40 honorees mean to you?

As a top 50 university with a purpose-driven mission, Pepperdine produces some of the brightest and most talented changemakers in the world. It's a privilege to have earned my degree from such a well-regarded institution, but to be nominated for this year's 40 under 40 is truly a great (and unexpected) honor—and one which I'll work hard to live up to.

Describe your success:

Since graduating with a master's degree in communication from Pepperdine, I've had the pleasure of working with some really amazing brands—both large and small—helping them to form meaningful connections and engage with audiences through digital. I've spent my short career looking for unique ways to create value and innovate through digital—inspiring audiences to take action.

How does Pepperdine play into your success?

The academic rigor, diverse perspectives, and research experience I gained in the classroom at Pepperdine prepared me for life after graduation. But more importantly, my time on campus left me with invaluable life lessons, which serve to strengthen my purpose and leadership style at home, at work, and in the community.

Who inspires you and why?

Tom Brady.

What's next for you? What's your five year outlook? What's your ten year plan?

My outlook and plans are simple: be a leader, and find ways to inspire. And I will continue to push for innovation and positive change by following the best advice I've ever received: "Don't look for a new job; do your job better."

How do you prepare for a busy day?

I start my day listening to NPR while making breakfast for my wife and son. A half hour of scrolling through Twitter and LinkedIn, and 50 or so e-mails later, I am ready to tackle the day!

What is your favorite quote?

"Don't look for a better job; do your job better." –Bill Belichick

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Teaching.
