It is truly an honor to be chosen as an Outstanding Alumni | Women in Leadership honoree.

Describe your success story.

I don't think I have a success story per se. I have been blessed to be in a meaningful career like medicine, and have worked hard to improve the health of the community I serve. Hard work and a talented team have made our organizational successful.

How has Pepperdine played a role in your success?

In addition to the nuts and bolts knowledge I obtained at the Graziadio School of Business, I truly appreciated the Pepperdine philosophy of the corporation or business being an instrument of good for the employees and the community.

Describe a lesson you've learned from a challenging time in your career or life.

I've learned that people want to help you, reach out and engage the power of the team and the larger community.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I believe a leader's job is to set the vision, develop the team, and support the work.

Who has helped you achieve success in your career?

The list is long. I have enjoyed small kindnesses, deep mentorships, and the gift of unearned trust on many occasions in my career. I would say the most important key to success is to have someone believe in you, that unwavering faith in your ability will push you to achieve great things.

What's next for you?

I've never looked for the "next step" so for now I will continue to try to do my best for my team and the community.

What was your first job?

Cooking in a local Italian restaurant.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

If I had any talent I would write. I love storytelling!

What historical or modern-day leader do you admire and why?

Eleanor Roosevelt—an amazing woman who dared to defy and a great knitter (my passion).

What is your mantra or favorite quote?

Presume positive intent.

How do you prepare for a busy day?

Exercise first thing in the morning. You have paid yourself first, it makes you feel virtuous, and powerful. Lastly you can devote the rest of the day to others without feeling cheated.

Road cycling and knitting.
