Joel Ornelas (‘05)

Pepperdine alumnus Joel Ornelas ('05) works as an interventional radiologist in the Austin area, serving patients who have experienced massive traumas. His story was submitted by his wife, Tiffany Ornelas.

"Joel is an interventional radiologist who serves the entire Austin area. Because of this, he is constantly going to different hospitals to perform emergent life-saving procedures on patients using fluoroscopy guided techniques. He treats patients who've experienced massive traumas (car accidents, etc.) that are beyond what surgeons can treat through normal surgical techniques, advanced stages of disease, and those too ill or frail to undergo open surgery. He has continued to have an extremely positive attitude despite dealing with the PPE shortages and difficulties that are prevalent throughout the medical system during this time." - Tiffany Ornelas
