Graduate School of Education and Psychology to Host Better Together: California Teachers Summit 2016

The Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) will host the second annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit at Howard Hughes Cinemark 18 Theaters, adjacent to the University’s West Los Angeles Graduate Campus[BROKEN LINK], on Friday, July 29, from 8:30 AM to 3 PM.

This first-of-its-kind event, presented at nearly 40 locations across California, is uniquely designed to help teachers build a lasting and powerful network of peers, share innovative strategies and best practices, gain inspiration from keynote and teacher speakers, and access effective resources to implement new standards adopted by the California State Board of Education in their classrooms.

The program will feature keynote addresses by education leaders, TED-style EdTalks presented by local teachers, and EdCamp discussions around timely topics such as the California Standards in English/language arts and math, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Teachers will walk away with access to new resources and concrete tools that are already working in classrooms across the state. The Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, the California State University, and New Teacher Center have partnered to organize this gathering.

In July 2015 GSEP cohosted the first annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit, a then-unprecedented convening of more than 14,500 teachers at 33 locations across the state, who connected with fellow colleagues from their home region to support future collaboration.

Teachers who attended the event described the summit as a powerful day of learning that made them proud of what they do, and reminded them of the important difference they make in the lives of their students.

The summit is free to all California teachers, teacher candidates, school administrators, and other educators.
