Pepperdine Graduate Earns Spot on U.S. Bobsled Team

Recent Pepperdine University Executive MBA graduate Lauren Gibbs has been named to the United States Bobsled National Team for competition in 2014-2015.

The Los Angeles native will join eight other athletes on the women's bobsled team representing the U.S. on the World Cup and Intercontinental Cup tours during the upcoming season.

Gibbs earned her Executive MBA from Pepperdine's George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management in 2014 and currently works as a regional sales manager at Trumaker in Denver, Colorado.

Gibbs became interested in the sport of bobsled this past summer through a friend. After participating in a competition in Colorado Springs, she was invited to a weeklong camp in Lake Placid, New York, where she earned top marks above nine other participating athletes. In November, Gibbs participated in the U.S. bobsled's selection races in Park City, Utah. After winning a selection race with 2014 Olympic silver medalist Elana Meyers Taylor, Gibbs was named to the team.

Although Gibbs is fairly new to the sport of bobsled, she is an accomplished athlete. A former Ivy League volleyball player, Gibbs earned her undergraduate degree at Brown University, in Rhode Island, where she captained the women's volleyball team. She graduated in 2006.
