Pepperdine Scholar-Athletes Honored at Halftime Ceremony
One hundred and seventy Pepperdine students were honored as Scholar-Athletes during halftime at the Waves men’s basketball game against University of San Francisco at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu on Thursday, February 18.
During this special ceremony, the student-athletes were brought onto the basketball court as their names were displayed on the video board. They each received a white, bronze, silver, or gold lapel pin to represent the number of years they have maintained a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average—the required criteria to achieve this status.
“We are proud of all the hard work and dedication these Scholar-Athletes put in on and off the field,” shared academic services coordinator Kevin Green, on behalf of the Pepperdine academic support services staff.
The 170 students that were recognized in this event make up about 60% of the total number of student-athletes at Pepperdine, and this year’s top performing teams included tennis, cross country and track, and volleyball.
