Pepperdine University Theatre Department to Present Production of Eurydice

The Seaver CollegeTheatre Department will perform the mythical play Eurydice at Lindhurst Theatre on the Malibu campus at 7:30 PM from Tuesday, January 24, to Friday, January 27, and at 2 PM and 7:30 PM on Saturday, January 28.

Written by recognized American playwright Sarah Ruhl (pictured at left), Eurydice is a modern telling of the ancient Greek Orpheus myth. With its chorus of talking stones and tricycle-riding Lord of the Underworld, this story takes audiences on a journey to the hereafter.

After taking a dip in the River of Forgetfulness, Eurydice stumbles upon her deceased father, only to mistake him for a hotel bellman. Over time, father and daughter fight the natural order of death itself to rediscover their primal bond. But when a lovelorn Orpheus descends into the underworld to retrieve his beloved, Eurydice must make a difficult choice.

Hollace Starr (pictured at right) assistant professor of theatre at Pepperdine University, will direct the student cast. A talkback session with the actors and director will take place after the Wednesday evening performance.

Tickets are $15, and are required for attendance. For additional information about the performances, and to purchase tickets, visit the Center for the Arts website.
