Pepperdine Ushers in New Era of Waves Golf with Opening of State-of-the-Art Golf Clubhouse

After two years of construction, Pepperdine University will officially open the doors to its new, nearly 8,000-square-foot Golf Clubhouse on Friday, September 4, 2026. Serving as the exclusive, dedicated campus home for both the men’s and women’s programs, the premier facility within the Charles B. Runnels Sports and Recreation Village unites elite athletic preparation with academic and personal development under one roof.

Situated at Firestone Fieldhouse, the clubhouse provides a central hub for daily team life, practice, and collaboration. The facility features premium training opportunities and private study spaces as well as coaches’ offices designed for strategic sessions, player development, and team unity.

According to Michael Beard (’02), head coach of the men’s golf team, the facility is a significant contribution to Pepperdine's athletic facilities, enabling student-athletes to thrive as competitors as it furthers the development of a stronger sense of community.

“Our golfers now have a home on campus,” said Beard. “The new clubhouse offers the resources and tools they need to succeed while building meaningful connections with their teammates in a space right here at Pepperdine." Beard added, "This is going to change the game for us, to be fully integrated with the rest of our athletic community on campus.”

Laurie Gibbs, head coach of the women's golf team, also reflected on the impact the clubhouse will have on its student-athletes. 

“The new Golf Clubhouse is an incredible addition to the Pepperdine men's and women's golf teams—providing our athletes with an environment that supports both performance and personal development," said Gibbs. "We are so grateful to everyone that has made this possible and the investment in Pepperdine golf. I am very excited about what this new clubhouse will mean for our current and future Waves.”  

Cutting-edge indoor golf performance technology ensures that the golfers receive precise feedback and prepare for peak competition. Highlights include TrackMan iO hitting bays and one of the largest TOURPUTT simulators in the United States, allowing players to refine every aspect of their game year-round.

Team-branded locker rooms, a boardroom-style conference room with expansive views, and an inviting players lounge offer student-athletes spaces to recharge and connect off the course.

More than just a training ground, the clubhouse reflects Pepperdine’s commitment to inspire purpose, offering a supportive environment where student-athletes are nurtured not only in their athletic performance but in their growth as leaders, scholars, and individuals.
