Singer-Songwriter Chris Tomlin to Headline Pepperdine Worship Summit 2024
Pepperdine University will host the Pepperdine Worship Summit 2024, a powerful evening of Christ-centered worship and fellowship that will bring the community together with open hearts before the Lord to glorify his name and sing his praises. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Alumni Park on the Malibu campus beginning at 5 PM.
“The Pepperdine Worship Summit serves as a profound moment for our community to unite in faith and worship,” says Tim Spivey, vice president for spiritual life. “This gathering is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for us to reaffirm our commitment to our Christian values and dedicate the year ahead to God through shared prayer and praise.”
Singer-songwriter Chris Tomlin will lead attendees in worship and Sadie Robertson Huff will share inspiring and empowering words. Music ministry United Voice Worship will return to the Pepperdine Worship Summit to lead an a cappella worship experience and Waves Worship, led by students, staff, and alumni, will make their Pepperdine Worship Summit debut with their meaningful musical arrangements. The event will also include remarks from president Jim Gash (JD ’93) and free food from local food trucks.
Chris Tomlin is touted by TIME magazine as “the most often sung artist anywhere on any given Sunday,” Chris Tomlin has sold millions of albums, streamed billions of tracks, and spawned 16 number one radio singles. He has been awarded multiple RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications, as well as a list of Grammy, Dove, Billboard Music, and American Music Awards. Consistently ranking in the top 20 of the CCLI Top 100 chart years after initial release, his benchmark anthems include “At the Cross (Love Ran Red),” “Our God,” and “How Great is our God”—one of the fastest-rising modern-day hymns in CCLI chart history. From his rural Texas roots, cutting his chops on his father’s Country-Western record collection, to the small Baptist church where he was first compelled by congregational singing, and now in his current position as the definitive worship leader for the worldwide church, Tomlin affirms his lifetime calling to “write songs that help people worship God.”
Communicating as a sister and friend, Sadie Robertson Huff, author, speaker, and founder of Live Original, is on a mission to use her influence as an American reality television personality and content creator to reach her generation with the message of Christ. She is the creator of the Live Original ministries, a community for young women to experience the gospel of Jesus, and is the host of the popular podcast, WHOA, That’s Good. Huff is also the author of several best-selling books, including Live on Purpose: 100 Devotions for Letting Go of Fear and Following God, Who Are You Following?: Pursuing Jesus in a Social-Media Obsessed World, and How to Put Love First: Find Meaningful Connection with God, Your People, and Your Community.
United Voice Worship (UVW) is a bridge-building music ministry composed of worship pastors and praise leaders from Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Dedicated to honoring Jesus Christ by creating and leading unifying worship gatherings, their vision is focused on bridging life together and celebrating the beauty of diversity through a cappella worship experiences and resources. UVW supports this vision by using the powerful gift of the human voice and, even more, by modeling what it means to celebrate differences and to call one another family.

A collaboration between students, staff, and alumni, Waves Worship is a reflection of the move of God within this generation that aims to capture the songs God is singing over the Pepperdine campus community and the heartcries the community is singing back to Him. Marked by purity, truth, and intimacy with the heart of the father, Waves Worship is a family overflowing with unlimited creative expression for this generation to authentically encounter Christ.
