Theologian N. T. Wright to Present Keynote at 2016 Pepperdine Bible Lectures

British New Testament scholar and former bishop of Durham Nicholas Thomas (N. T.) Wright will present the keynote topic “The Scandal of the Cross” during the opening night of the 73rd annual Pepperdine Bible Lectures[BROKEN LINK] at Firestone Fieldhouse on the Pepperdine University Malibu campus on Tuesday, May 3, at 7 PM.

Wright will also explore this year’s Pepperdine Bible Lectures theme, “Cruciformed: Living in Light of the Jesus Story,” through a three-part lecture series of the same name, at Smothers Theatre in Malibu, May 4 through May 6, from 1:30 to 2:15 PM.

Additionally, Wright will host and facilitate “Ministry Dialogues,” two daily class sessions with church ministers, who will have the opportunity to spend 45 minutes with him in a small group setting, to ask questions and participate in discussions. These sessions will be held at Plaza Classroom 188 at the Malibu campus, May 4 through May 6, from 2:30 to 3:15 PM, and again from 3:30 to 4:15 PM.

Wright taught New Testament studies for 20 years at Cambridge, McGill, and Oxford Universities, and served as the bishop of Durham from 2003 until his retirement in 2010. He has authored nearly 50 books, including a complete, popular-level, New Testament commentary series entitled The New Testament for Everyone, and his new opus on Paul, Paul and the Faithfulness of God. He has also written numerous essays, sermons, and articles throughout his career. Wright currently serves as research professor of New Testament and early Christianity at St. Mary’s College in the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Now in its 73rd year, Pepperdine Bible Lectures is an annual event featuring four God-focused days of spiritually enriching and academically enlightening days of lectures, discussions, sermons, praise and worship services, and fellowship events for ministers, families, and individuals.
