W. David Baird Distinguished Lecture Series Presents Carolyn Becker


The Seaver College W. David Baird Distinguished Lecture Series at Pepperdine University presents Carolyn Becker, who will discuss “The Body Project: Transforming Atypical Partnerships into Global Impact,” at Elkins Auditorium in Malibu on Thursday, February 11, at 5 PM.

Becker is a psychology professor and licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in body image interventions, prevention and treatment of eating disorders, and treatment of PTSD.

She is the cofounder and codirector of the Body Project Collaborative, a social entrepreneurship company that helps girls and young women refrain from behaviors that lead to eating disorders. Becker has also been conducting NIMH-funded research with female athletes for nearly a decade, and is the recipient of multiple nationally recognized awards in her field.

Becker currently serves as president of the Academy for Eating Disorders, a member of the National Eating Disorders Association's Prevention Advisory Council, and the associate editor of Behaviour Research and Therapy journal.
