Welcome the Year of the Sheep at Pepperdine Chinese New Year Celebration

Chinese New Year and the Year of the Sheep will be ushered in by several Pepperdine University student groups on the Malibu campus on Friday, Feb. 20. A free Chinese dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Drescher Graduate Campus cafeteria. An Opening Night Gala will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Drescher Auditorium, LC 150.

The celebration will include a traditional Chinese festival with games, musical performances, dance, and comedy.

The event is sponsored by Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA); the Catholic Student Association (CSA); the Malibu Graduate Business Society (MGBS), and the Asian Business Club (ABC).

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important holiday on the Chinese calendar. The sheep year is number eight in the Chinese 12-year cycle. It is said that arts, style, and fashion thrive during the Year of the Sheep.
