First session of Mediating and Litigated Cases Global: Switzerland scheduled for September 18-22, 2023

August 29, 2023 – Malibu, CA – The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law is pleased to announce the launch of the European edition of its popular professional training program, Mediating the Litigated Case (MLC).

In this first-of-its-kind event, Straus MLC Global: Switzerland will bring together distinguished faculty and nationally recognized dispute resolution experts to deliver a sophisticated, five-day dispute resolution and negotiation executive training program to one of Switzerland’s most beautiful and historic sites, the Château d'Hauteville.

“We are holding the Straus MLC Global to give people an opportunity to learn from world-class international faculty with diverse global classmates, from all over the world, in a very unique and culturally important setting, “said Dr. Sukhsimranjit Singh, assistant dean of graduate law programs, and Judge Danny Weinstein, managing director of the Straus Institute.

Straus MCL Global: Switzerland is designed for business professionals, mediators, negotiators, law, and other professionals. Distinguished faculty and nationally recognized dispute resolution experts will present cutting edge dispute resolution strategies and best practices for all stages of the mediation process.

The program will address different negotiation styles, facilitating problem-solving, and issues specific to the adversarial environment including:

• managing attorney advocates;
• the parameters of confidentiality; and
• discovery issues of particular concern to attorney-mediators.

Straus MLC Global: Switzerland will also address cross-border dispute resolution, neuro-behavioral understanding, and advanced impasse-breaking strategies.

The program provides up-to-date teaching on two modules: "What Makes a Good Mediator?" and "What Makes an Advanced Mediator?" Course sessions feature lectures, small group discussions, and practice exercises, providing a forum for direct, informal contact with the entire Straus faculty and world-renowned negotiation and mediation practitioners. The program also features an international roundtable discussion on cross-border conflict and an excursion to the United Nations. Hosted at Pepperdine’s new international campus, the Château d'Hauteville, this picturesque, peaceful, and historic location will enable thoughtful and world-changing conversations about issues that matter.

The Straus MLC Global: Switzerland program will take place September 18-22, 2023 at the Château d'Hauteville in Vevey, Switzerland. Registration and tuition information can be found at Straus MLC Global.
