Celtic Rock Group Derina Harvey Band Sails to the Shores of Malibu
MALIBU, CA – September 16, 2024 – Canadian Celtic rock group Derina Harvey Band sails to the shores of Malibu for another melodious show at Smothers Theatre on Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. With its rocky, rhythmic undertow layered with guitars, fiddle, and topped by Derina Harvey's powerful voice, the group offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs, sea shanties, and original music.

This multi-award-winning group delivers on entertainment with Derina Harvey’s soaring vocals combined with the band’s impeccable musicianship. Derina’s vibrant personality takes center stage with humor, storytelling, and, of course, her powerful vocals. Their show's wide variety of pieces includes rollicking sea shanties, lively instrumentals, and emotive solo ballads. Derina Harvey Band has been likened to a “rockier” version of Canada’s Great Big Sea, if fronted by Adele, and has earned a reputation as a high-energy live show sure to charm and delight.
The band has three albums to their credit, with the most recent being “Waves of Home” (2023). They were also recently the recipients of a 2024 East Coast Music Award in the "Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year” category. Band members include Derina Harvey (vocals and guitar), Steve Pinsent (drums and vocals), Scott Greene (lead guitar and vocals), Jessica Blenis (violin and vocals), and Ed Smith (bass guitar and vocals).
