From the Screen to the Stage: Naturally 7 at the Movies
“Naturally 7 is the future of vocal music!”—Quincy Jones
MALIBU, CA – August 26, 2024 – Vocal sensations Naturally 7 brings iconic movie tracks from the silver screen to the stage at Smothers Theatre on Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus on Sunday, September 22 at 7 p.m. Prepare for a high-energy night of perfectly interwoven vocal choreography and jaw-dropping audio pyrotechnics.
Having perfected an a cappella style that the group has coined as "vocal play," Naturally 7’s members transform their voices into actual human instruments, effortlessly and harmoniously producing music of various genres such as soul, rap, rock, and folk music.
The best songs in movie history come together for one incredible show, Naturally 7 at the Movies. Favorites from “James Bond,” “Titanic,” “The Sound of Music,” “West Side Story,” “Grease,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “8 Mile,” “Saturday Night Fever,” and many more are sure to have audiences laughing, crying, and everything in between. From Hollywood classics to contemporary hits, every sound is created by human voices.
“I am often asked what we do and how we do it. Well what we do is sing, but at the
same time we each impersonate musical instruments and create a wall of sound without
anyone playing anything,” says founder Roger Thomas. Naturally 7 consists of members
“Ricky” Lee Ricardo Cort, Rod Eldridge, N'namdi Bryant, Sean Simmonds, Dwight Stewart,
Roger Thomas, and Warren Thomas.
Over the span of its vibrant 20-year career, the group has released 12 studio albums;
has completed three world tours—including nearly 500 shows with the talented Michael
Bublé—and shared billing at a sold-out show at the Barclays Center and elsewhere with
global phenomenon Coldplay. They have performed at the Hollywood Bowl and jazz festivals
including the Montreux Jazz, New Orleans Jazz, and Capital Jazz festivals. Naturally
7 has shared the stage with numerous icons, such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Quincy
Jones, Sarah Connor, Lionel Richie, Ludacris, The Roots, and more. Counted among their
world-famous fans are former president Barack Obama, Will.i.am., Craig Ferguson, Herbie
Hancock, and Jay Leno, along with countless others.
