Pepperdine University Hosts 2nd Annual RISE Summit Celebrating Resilience
January 25, 2023 – Malibu, CA – The 2nd Annual RISE (Resilience-Informed Skills Education) Summit will be hosted at Pepperdine University on Tuesday, February 7 and Wednesday, February 8. The large-scale, conference-style event celebrates resilience in the Pepperdine community. This year’s RISE Summit will focus on the physical dimension of resilience, including how engaging in movement, practicing healthy eating, and prioritizing sleep are key for moving through expected and unexpected adversity.
"The RISE Summit is an exciting opportunity to hear stories of physical resilience from Pepperdine students, faculty, and staff,” said Sergio Gallardo Palma, RISE program manager. “There is power in storytelling, and we hope that hearing the panelists' stories will inspire members of our community to take care of their bodies so they are ready to bounce back from life's challenges.”
Both days of this year’s RISE Summit will feature a panel of Pepperdine students, faculty, and staff who will share their inspiring stories of physical resilience followed by a Q&A session and a meal for all attendees. Attendees will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win exciting prizes. Event registration is required as space is limited.
“I'm looking forward to hearing from students and faculty members about their experiences overcoming obstacles through practicing healthy habits,” said Ethan Barragan, Seaver College junior. “Something unique about this year's RISE Summit is that we'll be able to continue conversations about physical resilience over a meal with peers and other attendees. Overall, I'm grateful to the RISE Program for hosting a yearly celebration of resilience through storytelling on campus."
