Off-Campus Employers

Thank you for choosing to support the education of our students through the student employment experience. Off-campus employers may use the services of the Student Employment Office to hire Pepperdine students. All employers (nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies, and private citizens) may use our free job portal website called Handshake to list available positions.  

Examples of commonly posted part-time positions include:

  • tutoring
  • babysitting/part-time nanny
  • dog walking
  • house sitting
  • personal assistant
  • hospitality industry jobs
  • data entry
  • office support

 

 How-To Get your Job Posted 

Review the instructions in "Off-Campus Employer Resources" below.  You will receive job submissions in your personal email inbox for your job listing that is not affiliated with Pepperdine University.  You may stop the ads at any time, and most jobs are set to expire within three months of the listing being posted.

 What is Handshake?

Handshake is Pepperdine University's online job-posting platform that is utilized by both employers and students. 

 Student Employee Salaries

Student employee salaries are at the discretion of the employer, but all jobs must have a base pay of $17.87 or more to be within compliance of the State of California's minimum wage requirement.

 How to Post a Job

If you are interested in posting a job at Pepperdine, and it is your first time using our services, please follow the steps below:

1. Send a request by email to: student.employment@pepperdine.edu 

2. Include the following information in your email:

- Your name and contact information 

- Name of company

- Title of the job 

- Description of job 

-Job duties

- Qualifications needed

- Days of the week and hours you will need assistance. (This can be estimated times or days.)

- Expected start and end dates

- Required documents for application (i.e. resume, cover letter, etc.)

-  Location of Job (Will not put specific addresses in job listings.)

- Salary (As of July 1, 2025 the minimum pay rate for compensation is 17.87 per hour.)

-Please specify if the position is remote or in person. Or, if both are available depending on the applicant.

3. Someone from the Student Employment Office will respond to your email and if approved, will send a confirmation link with the job listing. 

* We encourage both employers and students to practice safety and precaution when posting and applying for positions off-campus, as Pepperdine is not affiliated with jobs posted by outside employers. 

NOTE: We do not approve positions that are commission-based, and/or provide room and board as the only means of compensation. Please provide a set salary (such as an hourly rate pay, weekly pay, or monthly pay depending on the nature of the job.)

 Job Posting Confirmation

 

1.  Once the job posting is approved, we will email a confirmation along with the job posting link for your review. 

 

 How to Remove a Job Posting

We post most jobs for three months and all jobs can be removed upon request. Please email student.employment@pepperdine.edu to have your job listing removed.
