An epidemic is sweeping across America. It's a disease of lethargy that is affecting men in greater numbers than women. According to the U.S. Bureau of statistics, men between the ages of 20 to 24 have the lowest rates of volunteering in the country, with about 2 men for every 3 women volunteering. The numbers are even lower at Pepperdine. In the Volunteer Center, we see 1 male for every 5 females that volunteer.
Partnering with Step Up! Pepperdine, Campus Recreation, and Housing & Residence Life, we are emphasizing male involvement in the Pepperdine. Nationally, men between ages of 20 and 24 have the lowest rates of volunteering in America. At Pepperdine, 1 out of 5 volunteers are male.
It's time for Pepperdine men to Step Up, serve, and 'stache
Borrowing from Australia's Movember, the Pepperdine wants men to be a valuable part of the community. If you would like to show your support by growing a mustache, we encourage that solidarity. Other ways to show support include wearing a purple ribbon, symbolizing the fight against domestic violence and testicular cancer awareness, or getting your friends out to the events below.
