Letter from the Editor

Pepperdine Magazine is the feature magazine for Pepperdine University and its growing community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends.

The beginning of the academic year is always an invigorating time to be working on a college campus. The summer lull turns into the fall rush, as returning students bring with them the memories from their summer activities, faculty members polish their new lesson plans, and new members of the University community brace themselves for the exciting possibilities awaiting them in the following months.

At the start of this school year, the first group of Seaver College sophomores moved into Eden House, the University’s first “green” residence hall, where they will live and learn in an environment that will engage them in sustainable practices; a select group of new faculty returned from a retreat in Lausanne, Switzerland, where they convened to reinforce their vocational calling and discover how their new place of employment supports the integration of faith and learning; and an alumnus watched as his life’s work of leading addicts to recovery was portrayed in a new film that challenges stereotypes of addiction and homelessness.

As the days pass and the seasons begin to change, we encourage you to share with us the memories you make and milestones you reach this year by contacting us at magazine@pepperdine.edu. We look forward to hearing your stories.
