Theatre Department Presents Production of Almost, Maine

Pepperdine Magazine is the feature magazine for Pepperdine University and its growing community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in town. As the northern lights dance in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in playwright John Cariani’s delightful midwinter night’s dream.

The Pepperdine Theatre Department performed Almost, Maine, a comedy-drama comprising nine short acts that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town. Performances took place at Lindhurst Theatre on the Malibu campus from Tuesday, September 29, to Saturday, October 3.

Scott Alan Smith, visiting assistant professor of theatre at Pepperdine University, directed the student cast and a moderated a talkback session with the actors and director after the performance.
