Renovated Graduate Campus Reopens in Encino
Pepperdine Magazine is the feature magazine for Pepperdine University and its growing community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends.
Members of the Pepperdine community will gather on Thursday, Mar. 3, to celebrate the newly renovated Encino Graduate Campus located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. The campus, which the University first established in 1987, serves students and faculty of the Graziadio School of Business and Management and the Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
“It has always been the guiding mission of this University to put students first,” says President Andrew Benton, who will be providing the welcoming remarks at the dedication ceremony. “This newly transformed campus represents our ongoing commitment to ensure students receive the highest quality learning experience from Pepperdine University.”
Joining President Benton at the dedication will be Margaret Weber, dean of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, and Linda A. Livingstone, dean of the Graziadio School of Business and Management. Valley field deputy Jeffrey Ebenstein and Los Angeles councilmember Paul Koretz will be presenting a certificate to the University on behalf of District 5, which includes Sherman Oaks, Studio City, and Encino. Guided tours of the newly renovated campus will be provided following the opening ceremony.
The three-month long renovation project included expanding the student lounge and adding new student meeting areas. The campus library was combined with a computer lab, and all classrooms were outfitted with the latest in audio and visual technology. Four new faculty offices were added as well as one executive conference room and two hoteling offices, bringing the total facility size to 35,000 square feet.
“Given the current economic challenges facing universities today, this investment in our campus facilities illustrates Pepperdine’s unwavering focus on the needs of its students,” notes Livingstone. “We are pleased to be able to continue to provide exceptional support to our students in the San Fernando Valley and beyond.”
A new Distinguished Alumni wall and plasma video screens that feature university announcements will further strengthen a sense of community for the renovated Encino campus. Pepperdine’s Community Counseling Center, supported by the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, has also been updated as part of the campus renovations.
“This renovation represents our effort to enhance the student learning experience,” explains Weber. “The expansion of the student lounge and addition of new meeting areas are intended to encourage networking and collaboration among students and faculty. Education should be enjoyable, after all.”
The Encino Graduate Campus is located at 16380 Ventura Boulevard.
