Meet the Olympians: Robert Lindstedt
Pepperdine Magazine is the feature magazine for Pepperdine University and its growing community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends.
Robert Lindstedt ('98), who is currently 10th in the world in doubles ranking, is making his first Olympic appearance this year competing in men’s doubles and mixed doubles for his home country of Sweden.
He has reached the Wimbledon finals in men’s doubles for three consecutive years with
his Romanian partner Horia Tecău and recently won the ATP World Tour 250 Series in
Båstad, Sweden with Tecău.
In his only season at Pepperdine after transferring from Fresno State, Lindstedt and
partner Kelly Gullett reached the championship match of the 1998 NCAA men's doubles
tournament. He was named an ITA All-American for the Waves in 1998.
Lindstedt went professional upon graduation in 1998 and made waves in the international
tennis circuit throughout the 2000’s. He won two double titles in 2007, the first
with partner Jarkko Nieminen in Mumbai and the second with Jordan Kerr in Tokyo. In
2008, he was a semi-finalist at the ATP Master Series with partners Kerr, Richard
Gasquet, and Jurgen Melzer. The same year, his team won the ARAG World Team Cup in
Düsseldorf.
