Pepperdine University Office of Community Engagement and Service Recognizes Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

This week the Office for Community Engagement and Service, a branch of the Hub for Spiritual Life, is recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week on the Pepperdine University Malibu campus. From January 24 through January 28, 2022, students will not only learn more about the issues of food and housing insecurity but also learn how to get involved in service through a suite of events held in Joslyn Plaza.

The week of activities will begin on Monday and Tuesday with engaging activities, including an interactive map and trivia, where community members can learn the facts about hunger and homelessness in every corner of the United States. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, students may get involved in tangible change through assembling care packages and writing encouragement cards for those experiencing hunger and homelessness in the Los Angeles area.

Finally, on Thursday and Friday, the Community Engagement and Service team will hold an interactive workshop from 10 AM to 4 PM for students to learn how to advocate for positive community change. Workshop participants will receive valuable information on various acts, campaigns, and policy initiatives happening in their home communities around the issues of hunger and homelessness and become empowered to raise concerns to their community representatives.
