RISE Faculty Fellowship Intiative

The RISE faculty fellowship initiative aims to equip faculty with resilience skills and strategies that could be integrated into the classroom to support student success and well-being. Additionally, RISE supports factulty to serve as liaisons for their respective academic departments.

Fellowship Opportunities

  RISE Divisional Liaison

The RISE program is seeking one faculty member from each division to function as the RISE Liaison to their division.

The role will include the following training and benefits:

  • In-person training (for incoming faculty: 4 hours; for returning RISE faculty: 1 hour)
  • $500 stipend for both the fall and spring semesters (total $1,000)

The role expectations will include the following:

  • Inform the division about RISE, including representing the RISE program in divisional meetings
  • Address questions within your division about RISE, including available resources, events, and available coaching opportunities, and how to promote resilience through class opportunities
  • Complete/participate in all required trainings
  • Attend the end-of-semester luncheons and provide feedback to improve the program and the role itself

Any tenured, tenure-track, or fixed-term Seaver faculty member is eligible to apply. Applicants should submit a current CV and a one-page description reflection on why they are seeking this role. Applications are typically due the first Sunday of June. Please email Jackie Nat with any questions.

  RISE Teaching Fellow

The RISE program would like to provide interested faculty with resources to strengthen students' resilience skills through intentional integration of resilience skills with existing and new course materials. The goal is that students will learn about at least one of the six dimensions of resilience as presented in the RISE Program. Through this teaching stipend, faculty can integrate RISE resilience skills into the course experience to support students’ well-being.

The role will include the following training and benefits:

  • In-person training (for incoming faculty: 4 hours; for returning RISE faculty: 1 hour)
  • $750 stipend for the academic year for including resilience components in the syllabus and course work in at least one course taught regularly

Recipient will be expected to do the following:

  • Rework at least one syllabus to include intentional learning and practice of resilience and share the syllabus with the RISE program to be included in the faculty resource library
  • Incorporate classroom teaching such as a meditation moment, Resilience Tip of the Week, using resilience-related articles in teaching research methods, resilience readings/reflections as appropriate for class, guest speakers, etc.
  • Complete/participate in all required trainings
  • Attend the end-of-semester luncheons and provide feedback to improve the program

Any tenured, tenure-track, or fixed-term Seaver faculty member is eligible to apply. Applicants should submit a current CV, the current syllabus from the class, and a one-page description of changes related to resilience that they will be making.
