Diploma Services

The Office of the Registrar oversees the distribution of diplomas in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for Seaver College, Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, School of Public Policy, and the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Caruso School of Law oversees the distribution of diplomas for their programs. Diplomas are mailed to the diploma address on record about 120 days after a degree is posted. Graduates receive an email confirmation sent to their Pepperdine email address once their degree has been posted.

The student name that will appear on the official Pepperdine diploma will match the primary name on the student’s WaveNet and official academic transcript. Students who wish to change their name as it appears in WaveNet must submit a name change request form and government-authorized identification to onestop@pepperdine.edu. The name change request must be completed before the student has graduated.

Certain holds or an invalid address will prevent your diploma from being printed until the problem is corrected.

Will my diploma reflect university or departmental honors, if earned?

Diplomas reflect university honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude, valedictorian, or salutatorian) for undergraduate degrees, if earned. Diplomas do not reflect departmental honors; however, departmental honors, if earned, will be noted on your transcript. University honors are not granted for graduate degrees.

Will my diploma reflect my concentration or emphasis within my major?

In general, concentrations and specializations are printed on the diploma for graduate programs. Earned certificates are not printed on diplomas, but are included on transcripts. Most earned certificates are separately printed.

What size frame should I buy if I want to frame the diploma?

All bachelor’s and master’s diplomas are 8.5” high x 11” wide. All doctoral diplomas (including JD and LLM) are 11” high x 14” wide.

Do students pursuing a double major receive one or two diplomas?

Pepperdine University awards one diploma for each level of academic degree earned (e.g. bachelor, master). A student’s diploma will reflect all majors/programs completed for that level of degree.

What name may I have printed on my diploma?

By default Pepperdine University prints the graduate’s legal first and last names as appears in WaveNet on the diploma; students may identify whether they want a middle initial, full middle name, or other a nick-name printed between their legal first and last names when applying for graduation.

What should I do if I have not received my diploma in the mail after several weeks?

If it has been more than 120 days since you received your congratulatory email confirming your degree posting, please contact OneStop at 310.506.7999 or OneStop@pepperdine.edu and inquire about a reissue. Be sure to include your Pepperdine CWID. We usually wait 10 weeks for returned mail from domestic addresses, and 14 weeks from international addresses, before reissuing diplomas. Be sure to verify that your mailing address is valid and that you do not have any holds that might have prevented your diploma from being printed.
