2024 Malibu Parking

Pepperdine’s Malibu campus is in the midst of constructing The Mountain at Mullin Park. During this unprecedented time, the Malibu campus has implemented a parking plan to address the reduced parking while constructing an 831-space parking structure. As on-campus construction has progressed over the last few years, total parking spaces have fluctuated. The chart below shows the evolution of parking as the Malibu campus began construction of the new baseball parking lot in 2022 and continues to prepare for the construction of the Mountain at Mullin Park.

As you can see in the table above, in January 2024 the total number of parking spaces will only be 105 less than at the peak of construction in Spring, 2023. The University has evaluated all parking lots and implemented a program that incentivizes staff and faculty to park off-site or in less desirable locations. Through these efforts, 180 prime parking spots have been opened up on Main Campus.

Incentive Program

To open up prime parking availability on Main Campus the University is offering a number of incentive plans to faculty and staff. These options may be especially popular to on-campus residents, Main Campus employees who do not typically access their car throughout the workday, and employees whose commute passes by the Calabasas campus.

The following Parking Incentive Plan options will be in effect starting January 8, 2024 through the entire Spring semester and again in August, 2024 through the completion of the Mountain parking structure. These specific parking designations will not be enforced during the Summer terms.

Option 1 - Calabasas Park and Ride: Park your car in Calabasas, and shuttle to the Malibu campus on weekdays. Those who participate will receive $40 in meal points each week to be used at any campus dining location. The University will provide a shuttle from Calabasas to Malibu beginning at 7:20 am, and running continuously from Malibu to Calabasas throughout the day, with the last shuttle leaving Malibu at 7:00 pm.

Option 2 - Drescher Parking: Park your car at a designated spot on the Drescher Campus, and shuttle or walk to your Main Campus work location. This is available to employees who work on the Main Campus in Malibu but not on the Drescher Campus. Those who participate will receive $40 in meal points each week to be used at any campus dining location.

Option 3 - On-Campus Homeowners: Utilize on-campus shuttle services, or walk to campus locations instead of driving, during high traffic times. Those households who commit to no general campus parking Monday through Friday 8 am - 3 pm will receive $40 in meal points each week to be used at any campus dining location.

To sign-up, please complete this form. If you are an existing staff member, you will be required to turn in your current permit and you will receive new permits with your chosen incentive designation. Once new permits have been distributed, your meal points will be added. For more information, please contact Lisa Stone - lisa.stone@pepperdine.edu.

Enhanced Shuttle Service

The University has enhanced shuttle service for community members through the addition of the Calabasas shuttle as well as increased service in Malibu. Detailed shuttle schedules and routes can be found here. In addition to the existing schedule, a 4th shuttle will be added during peak times Monday through Friday - 9:30 am - 10 am, 11:30 am - 12 pm, 1:30 pm - 2 pm. To assist staff who take advantage of the Drescher incentive, an added shuttle with direct route from Drescher and the Main Lot has been added from 7:30 am -8:30 am and 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

The new Calabasas shuttle is available for faculty, staff, and students. The shuttle will pick-up from the Pepperdine Calabasas campus located at 26750 Agoura Rd., Calabasas (corner of Agoura Rd and Lost Hills) and drop-off at the Main Lot in Malibu. Shuttles will run Monday through Friday, leaving Calabasas every two hours from 7:20 am to 3:20 pm and leaving Malibu every two hours from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm.

Parking Enforcement

Parking enforcement is a critical part of the parking plan. The Department of Public Safety will continue monitoring parking compliance throughout campus. An enhanced parking enforcement team has been established to aid existing Public Safety officers. Signage has also been installed at the entrance of each parking lot to help identify allowable parking permits for each lot.
