First Wave Program
Pepperdine’s First Wave program expands access to higher education, supporting first-generation college students with mentorship, community, and guidance to thrive and lead lives of purpose, service, and leadership.
Created to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive, First Wave provides a strong foundation of support, connection, and encouragement for students who are the first in the family to navigate the college experience. Grounded in the belief that students are most successful when supported academically, emotionally, physically, and professionally, the program connects students with free campus resources that promote overall well-being and leadership development. Through mentorship, community-building events, career preparation, student employment opportunities, study abroad experiences, financial assistance resources, counseling support, and meaningful connections with faculty and staff, First Wave empowers first-generation college students to grow with confidence, achieve their goals, and fully experience all that Pepperdine has to offer.
With determination and guidance, I was able to find a support system of peers and mentors at Pepperdine. The professors at Pepperdine were amazing mentors, and Ihad the great privilege of receiving guidance and support from my professors to get through the first-generation college experience.
