OIE Surveys

The OIE oversees the administration of several national surveys. Data collected from these surveys are used to inform institutional decision-making. These surveys are administered to undergraduates, graduate students, alumni, and faculty.

National Surveys for Undergraduates

CIRP Surveys

The Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) under the University of California in Los Angeles Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) is regarded as the most comprehensive source of information on college students. Pepperdine participates in the following CIRP surveys:

  • The Freshman Survey (TFS)
  • Your First College Year (YFCY) Survey
  • Diverse Learning Environment Survey (DLE)
  • College Senior Survey (CSS)

NSSE

In addition to the CIRP surveys above, Pepperdine also participates in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) through the Center for Postsecondary Research in the Indiana University School of Education.

Noel-Levitz (ASPS)

The Noel-Levitz Adult Student Priorities Survey (ASPS)assesses adult students in graduate or continuing education programs on what is important to them academically, and how satisfied they are with their institution in meeting their expectations.

HEDS Alumni Survey

Pepperdine participates in the Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium Alumni Survey. The HEDS survey is designed to assess the long-term impact of undergraduate education, teaching practices, and institutional conditions on liberal education learning goals such as critical thinking, information literacy, and problem solving.

HERI Faculty Survey

The Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) Faculty Survey provides data on faculty goals and expectations, pedagogical practices, service activities, sources of stress and satisfaction, and the connection between learning in the classroom and practices in the local and global community.
