School of Public Policy Learning Outcomes

Master of Public Policy (MPP)

Upon completion of the MPP program, graduates will:

  1. Understand the purpose of public policy and its place within the political process;
  2. Master the basic methodologies used in public policy: economic analysis, quantitative methods, and moral reasoning;
  3. Apply decision frameworks that appropriately incorporate and balance competing perspectives and interests; and
  4. Develop professional skills that foster the proper course of action.

The successful mastery of these educational objectives will result in students who are prudent and ethical leaders in public policy who will effectively lead communities to make prudent choices to address their issues of mutual concern.

 

Master of Middle East Policy Studies (MMEPS)

Upon completion of the MMEPS program, graduates will:

  1. Understand the political, historical, cultural, ideological, and religious factors shaping public policy decisions in the Middle East
  2. Appreciate America’s engagement in the region, including its own political, historical, cultural, ideological, and religious influences
  3. Apply policy designs and decision frameworks that prudently balancethe tradeoffs between conflicting values and ethical foundations
  4. Develop the analytical, executive and decision-making skills necessary toformulate and lead solutions relevant to the Middle East across the public, nonprofit, andprivate sectors
